Trio Jeng, Soprano
TRIO JENG has performed soprano solos in most major choral repertoire including Bach’sMagnificat, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Faure’sRequiem, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Mass in D minor, Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Mozart’sMass in C Minor, Mozart’s Requiem, Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Vivaldi’s Gloria, to name a few. Ms. Jeng has performed with the Cincinnati Opera & Cincinnati Symphony (OH), Cleveland Orchestra & Chorus (OH), Clermont Philharmonic (OH), Lebanon Symphony & Chorus (OH), Cincinnati Musica Sacra (OH), Mt. Auburn October Festival Choir (OH), Sorg Opera (OH), Kentucky Symphony & Chorus (KY) and Nashville Symphony & Chorus (TN). She has appeared in concerts in Austria, France, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, United States and Taiwan.
With the honor to world-premiere a composition by the 90-year-old NY composer Douglas Townsend, Ms. Jeng performed his Ave Maria for voice and piano at the Musique et Vie Summer Concert Series in Geneva, Switzerland on July 24, 2012. Ms. Jeng was the last musician to perform and premiere Mr. Townsend’s last composition a week before his passing on August 1, 2012; she premiered the Ave Maria in the clarinet obbligato version at Mr. Townsend’s Memorial Concert on September 16, 2012 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City.
An advocate of vocal chamber music, Ms. Jeng performs with various chamber ensembles and regularly with Trio Lyrique, a voice-flute-piano trio she co-founded in 2004. She co-founded the Clermont Festival Chorale in 2006 and served as its director and conductor. She also co-launched IMPACT, a new summer program in Taiwan in June 2012.
Ms. Jeng is on the faculty at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department and in summer at the Orfeo Music Festival in Vipiteno/Sterzing, Italy. Almost all of Ms. Jeng’s high school students are members of the prestigious May Festival Youth Chorus and Cincinnati Children’s Choir in Cincinnati, Ohio through audition; both choirs perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, CSO Pops, Cincinnati Opera, May Festival Adult Chorus and University of Cincinnati CCM Main Stage Operas. Her students receive awards from competitions and festivals and many have been awarded scholarships to study at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Ohio State University, Ohio University, Temple University, among others.
Ms. Jeng received a B.A. degree in voice major and piano minor from the University of Chinese Culture in Taiwan and a M.M. degree in vocal performance from the Pennsylvania State University. She has participated in numerous master classes and workshops in Europe, Canada and the United States and has taken additional courses at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, she has been playing violin with the New Horizon Orchestra at UC since 2013. At UC Ms. Jeng has also earned a Certificate Diploma in Italian Literature and Culture in 2016. Her teachers include Dr. Suzanne Roy at Penn State, Patricia Berlin and Mary Henderson Stucky at the University of Cincinnati CCM as well as Ernesto Panariello, Baritone-in-Residence at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy.
